Tools Needed

Blank Water Bottle/Tumbler

You'll need a blank water bottle for engraving. Brands like Yeti and Stanley stand out for their quality and durability, making them ideal candidates for laser engraving.

If you feel bothered to find a suitable bottle, just go to xTool's tumbler store and pick out your favorites.

Laser Engraver

For water bottles of different materials, laser engraver types vary.

If you are about to engrave on a metal bottle, like a stainless steel one, opt for Fiber laser engravers. For new comers or DIY lovers, Diode lasers may suit better.

If you plan to engrave on non-metallic tumblers, cups and glasses, then CO2 laser engravers are preferred. Fiber laser engravers can also engrave plastic and ceramic drinkware.

Rotary Attachment

To conduct a comprehensive and smooth engraving, bottle rotation with stable speed is required. The 4-in-1 RA2 Pro can be well suited for multiple objects. If you prefer better experience, RA2 Pro Plus can help, by eliminating the repetitive task of focusing on each bottle to be engraved.

Measuring Tape

Before getting started, you'll need a measuring tape to measure the water bottle's perimeter.

Steps to Personalize Water Bottles

Step 1: Prepare Your Water Bottle

Clean the bottle, and make sure that all the sticky glue or unnecessary labels are removed. If the bottle has a handle, which can become a hindrance to rotation,  you may need to remove the handle temporarily.

Measure the area you want to engrave to ensure your design fits correctly. You also need to measure the perimeter of the water bottle, put it in xTool Creative Space and tell the software how fast to turn it when rotating.

Step 2: Set up Rotary Attachment

Connect the rotary attachment to your laser engraver and mount the bottle with the chuck module of the RA2 Pro. Use the leveler to make sure the bottle is level with the base surface.

In the meantime, make sure that the red dot is positioned right at the highest point of your leveled bottle.

Step 3: Set up Design and Software

Create a design as preferred, and import it into xTool creative Space. Adjust its size according to your bottle's measurements. Then adjust power and speed settings based on the material.
