PRODUCT INFORMATION
    • All Plywood can be laser-cut and engraved by all xTool machines.
    • The 1/8" plywood is commonly used for making shelves, wall paneling, wainscoting, flooring, furniture, and cabinets. Additionally, 1/8-inch plywood is ideal for laser cutter projects, as it is thin enough to be cut into intricate shapes with a laser and strong enough to provide the necessary strength and durability for your project.
    • It is recommended to use the Beige White Masking Tape to apply to the plywood before laser processing to minimize the blackening of the plywood caused by the laser process, and to obtain the best results. Also, Beeswax Wood Polish is the perfect partner for creating plywood decorations. It can effectively clean the wood surface, while filling the wood texture, making the wood color brighter and shinier. It effectively prevents the wood from drying and cracking, fading, and prolongs the service life of furniture.
    • It is recommended to always run a test before performing the actual laser cutting project. When laser cutting thick plywood, it's advised to use high power and multiple-pass at a high-speed setting to reduce laser dwell time and heat-affected area to minimize the burning edge. For your ease, we've prepared this ultimate guide to laser-cutting plywood.
    • Please allow a ± 1/2 inch variation for length and width sizes and a ±1/50 inch variation in thickness.
    • xTool Selected materials are terrific partners of xTool laser machines, You can get precise processing parameters from the Material Easyset Library. If there are any quality problems with the material, please feel free to contact us, xTool Selected will provide you with unconditional return and exchange.

    What is 1/8 inch plywood?

1/8 inch plywood is a type of composite wood material composed of three or more layers of thin sheets of wood, bonded with an adhesive. It is a popular choice for various projects due to its strength and affordability.
1/8 inch plywood can be made with a variety of different types of wood, including softwood, hardwood, and tropical hardwood.
Softwood plywood is typically made from pine, fir, or spruce, while hardwood plywood is usually made from birch, maple, or oak. Tropical hardwood plywood can be made from a variety of tropical hardwoods, such as mahogany.

How is 1/8 inch plywood made?

1/8 plywood is usually made with plies of thin wood veneer. The veneers are glued together with an adhesive and compressed to create a dense and stable sheet.
The plies are usually arranged in a cross-laminated pattern, with the grain of each ply being perpendicular to the grain of the adjacent ply. This helps to strengthen the plywood and minimize the chances of warping.

A: I am using this wood for laser cutting. I see no flaws in the gluing process that was used, no delaminations or errors.

A: Great wood. Clean and smooth. I build small boxes with it; it is straight, true, and tough.

A: Depends on use. It's great for crafts.

A: It is very good quality, at 1/8" it has a good weight and is much better than I was expecting when I purchased it. I use it with a laser engraving machine and it works well.

A: I pretty regularly need 12" x 12" plywood squares and try to keep a few on hand. The 8" x 12" boards limit things and waste materials.

To be laser engraved or cut, materials need to absorb the light emitted from the laser. Depending on the materials, the absorption of laser power differs. The reason behind this is the wavelength of the laser machine. Different types of materials absorb the same wavelength differently, causing varied engraving/cutting performance. Check here for a complete list of materials for laser cutting/engraving.
